Shane Koyczan and the Short Story Long
with Passion Pitch's Kirk Ramdath

$10 at the door, 18+

This event will occur the day after the Calgary
Folk Festival, where Shane will be the main
stage emcee! If you haven't seen him you are
in for treat. If you have you know how
awesome he is. Plus he's bringing (most) of
his band! Plus, Kirk presents some new
work to open the show.

Shane Koyczan Bio:
Shane Koyczan is one of the world’s premier
spoken word performers. His book, Visiting
Hours, was hailed as a Books of the Year
Selection by The Guardian (UK) and the
Globe and Mail (Canada) newspapers.
Shane was featured in Quill & Quire
magazine in May 2006.

Born and raised in northwestern Canada,
Shane was the first poet from outside the
USA to win the prestigious USA National
Individual Poetry Slam.
He has performed to full houses around the world - from university amphitheaters to the most
respected music and literary festivals. He has rocked the stage at the Edinburgh Book Festival, the
Vancouver International Writers Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival and the 2007 Canada Day
Celebrations in Ottawa.

Kirk Ramdath bio:
Kirk is a member of the 2006 and 2007 Calgary Slam teams and has performed in locales as varied as
Fort MacLeod and Halifax. He featured on the main stage of GlobalFest in 2007 and during the Calgary
International Spoken Word Festival in 2008. He organizes Passion Pitch Poetry and Poetry in the Park,
and is active in helping to build the poetry community in Calgary. Kirk recently received a Canada
Council grant to write a poetry manuscript titled 'Burn Your TV' and will debut new work at this
performance. He will be performing at the South Country Fair, July 18-20.
